Eva MacFarlane

Eva MacFarlane

Hailing from Glasgow, Eva is a Scottish mezzo-soprano studying a Masters of Arts at the Royal Academy of Music, under the tutelage of Elizabeth Ritchie and coach James Baillieu.

Prior to this, Eva graduated with a first-class honours degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, studying a Bachelor of Music in voice with Kathleen McKellar-Ferguson. During her time at the RCS Eva was a valued member of the RCS Voices and performed on various occasions with the group, including prestigious performances of the St John Passion with Bach choral scholar John Butt, and Beethoven’s Mass and Choral Fantasia with the SSO.

Eva has performed as a concert soloist several times, most recently in a performance of Beethoven’s ‘Mass in C’ with the Didcot choral society. Operatically, Eva has performed in the chorus for ‘Sir John in Love’ (Vaughan Williams) and Die Fledermaus (Strauss), both with the RCS, and performed the role of Fanny Price in Jonathon Dove’s ‘Mansfield Park’ with the Edinburgh Studio Opera in 2016. Opera scenes include Idamante in the Idomeneo Love duet (Mozart Idomeneo), Mrs Quickly in the letter quartet (Verdi Falstaff) – RCS 2017 – and Sesto in the Act 1 finale duet of Handel’s ‘Cesare’ and Gianetta in the Act 1 quartet of Donizetti’s ‘L’elisir D’amore’ – RAM 2018.

Eva would like to thank the Labyrinth Trust for their generous support in her studies, without which she would have not been able to study at such a prestigious location.
